WHAT’S KETO ALL ABOUT?
The Keto diet is a low-carb diet similar to the Atkins diet. The amount of carbs you eat are very low, so white flour, sugar, and sodas are out. With the Keto diet, you get most of your calories from protein and fat.
When you eat such a small amount of carbs a day, your body starts to break down fat and protein to get energy, which then helps with weight loss. This typically takes 3-4 days. When you get passed those 3-4 days you are then supposed to be in ketosis. That is when you start to loose the weight and some loose it quickly. They say Keto diet is a great kick start to a healthy lifestyle but it’s not supposed to be a long term diet. Keto is very restrictive and can be difficult to maintain.
WHY KETO DIET DOESN’T WORK FOR EVERYONE.
The Keto diet is really restrictive and it may not be for everyone. However, there are many resources that help with the Keto diet for beginners. There are also Keto diet calculators to help you find success. The Keto diet food list isn’t the longest list to choose from!
WILL KETO DIET WORK FOR ME?
There are so many personality types and so many diets out there. Have you ever thought about what diet or way of eating fits best for your personality type? Maybe you’ll find that Keto is the right fit for you… or maybe you’ll find it’s the worst idea ever!! Ha!
PERSONALITY TYPES:
Social Butterfly | Spontaneous Personality
If you are one that loves to have your calendar full with lunch dates, friend get togethers, dinner dates, or always on the go, then a diet like “Weight Watchers” can be a great diet for you. It allows you the freedom and flexibility with your busy schedule and social get togethers. It’s also a great way for those social personalities to have an outlet. Weight Watchers have meetings where you can go support one another and cheer each other on.. and socialize!
If this is your personality type, you probably want the freedom to be spontaneous for last minute dinner plans. You can use apps that show you different restaurants in your area and the healthy choices they provide. Some social personalities get board so be sure to switch it up. Don’t restrict yourself! Get creative with fun recipes that are healthy, but might even taste like a treat! You can make chocolate chip cookies with gluten free flour and add some Just Thrive probiotics to the batter. You are enjoying a treat but you don’t have the guilt.
TIP: Keep some kind of snack in your purse. For snack ideas, check our post of top 20 healthy snack ideas for on the go! When your schedule is full and you’re always on the go, sometimes you forget about eating. Keep your body fueled so you have the energy to combat that busy schedule.
Introvert Personality
Unlike the social butterfly personality that loves to be out and about, the introvert personality thrives on feeling peace. You know, the type that wants to stay home rather than going out and chatting with friends. For this personality type you can try companies that deliver your food. There are companies that deliver healthy foods to your door so you can skip going out.
Meal planning is another great idea for the introvert. They want peace in their lives and don’t like stress. You can have all your lunches ready wether you eat at home or stay at work to eat. With any diet plan you are on, you can be prepped and have a meal plan. There are some great meal planning books and resources out there that help with meal planning.
TIP: Be sure you have peace in your life with being prepared with meal planning. If you aren’t feeling like going out, try using a food delivery service to your home.
Emotional |Rebellious Personality
The emotional driven personality can be the ones that “eat their emotions.” They don’t like restriction and they want to feel free! If they don’t have this freedom, they might rebel. With this personality you want food to taste good so you think you’re having a treat. For instance, if you’re making a delicious smoothie, try adding some spinach! You’ll get the great taste but you’ll also get the nutrients you need so you feel edified and satisfied without giving up good food.
The Mediterranean diet can be a great diet, it’s healthy but isn’t restrictive. The Mediterranean diet emphasizes whole grains, fruits and vegetables, fish and poultry and healthy fats from foods such as seeds, nuts and oils.
TIP: Get creative and make some fun treats that are healthy but don’t leave you with the guilt. Don’t try too restrictive of a diet because you may feel deprived.
Type-A Personality
Do you have tons of drive, long lists and maybe some OCD?! These personalities are the ones that may do best with the restrictive diets like the Keto diet. It’s more black and white and obvious what you can and cannot eat. Unlike the desire to be a free bird, you want that control. Even though the type-A personalities could still do well with a Weight Watchers diet that tracks points, many people dislike gray areas and feel more safe knowing that what they are eating is on the “list”. If you’re interested in the Keto diet and you’re new to it, “The Complete Ketogenic Diet for Beginners” is a great book to start with!
TIP: You can count on type-A personalities to take all their supplements. Take a good multivitamin and a probiotic like Just Thrive Probiotic,. Good fats, and some vitamin D are also key to great health!
