5 Basic Rules
Step 1: Set up
I will give you 5 basic rules on how to play this game. You will start with your net, that looks similar to a trampoline but smaller. A yellow ball that is much smaller than a volleyball and closer to the size of a baseball. once you have your equipment, then you’re ready to get started!
- You usually play with four players, however it can be played with six players.
- To start, you will stand around the net.
- You and your teammate will stand next to each other, this way when it’s time to serve, it will make that possible.
Step 2: Serving the ball
- There are so many aspects of Spikeball that is played similar to volleyball and as you will see it has some similar rules.
- The server must start directly across from he receiving player.
- The server will stand 6 feet away from the net.
- When the player serves the ball, they will toss the ball up and “spike” it to hit the net. The ball must hit the net first to continue the play.
- After a server wins the point, they change positions with their teammate so they are directly across from the other member of the receiving team.
Step 3: Scoring
You score points when:
1) The ball isn’t back on to the net with in 3 hits.
2) The ball hits the ground.
3) Ball hits the net, including the clips.
-The teams will switch sides after once team hits 11 points
-The games are played to 21 and the team must win by 2 points.
Step 4: Contacting the ball
- The hits must alternate between teammates.
- Ball must be hit. It can’t be caught, thrown, or hit with two hands.
- You can you any body part as your hit, but that counts as your hit and you can’t hit it again.
Step 5: Enjoy the game!
