Do you want a list of the top organic foods to buy at Costco? Costco has such good prices on organic foods. Not just fruits and vegetables but all sorts of foods like grains, meats, and snacks, along with many other items in our kitchen. I love how Costco makes it easy to purchase these items in bulk to save us lots of money so we can eat healthier. Before we look at the list of the top organic foods at Costco…
Did you know why people eat organic? I hear people often say that organic is just another way to make money. BUT did you know that organic didn’t even become official until the early 2000’s. One of the main reasons why is because they starting spraying glyphosate (the main ingredient in Roundup) and tons of pesticides on all our food. It causes havoc on our guts and if it’s labeled organic then you can be assured that its glyphosate free.
So many people think it’s so expensive to eat healthy and eat organic foods but if you shop right, you can enjoy these food for much cheaper. Only stick to the items on your list, it will help you save money on not buying items you really don’t need.
TOP ORGANIC FOODS TO BUY AT COSTCO
I have some favorites that I buy at Costco and I wanted to share that list with you. I have a few tips on how to get the best use out of them, so they don’t go bad and won’t waste you money.
ORGANIC FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
Have you heard of the dirty dozen? It’s the 12 worst fruits and vegetables that are affected with pesticides. The list is..
- Strawberries
- Spinach
- Kale
- Nectarines
- Apples
- Grapes
- Peaches
- Cherries
- Pears
- Tomatoes
- Celery
- Potatoes
I make an extra effort in buying these in organic. But if other produce is at Costco and cheaper than the grocery store than I will go ahead a purchase them because why not! Another way to eat fruits and vegetables cheaper is buying them frozen or canned. I buy most of my vegetables frozen and they are easy to cook with. I also use a lot of the frozen fruit for smoothies in my blender and that’s a great way to get good healthy organic fruit in you day. - Sweet Potatoes
- Apples
- Apple Sauce
- Strawberry Jam
- Diced Tomatoes
- Tomatoes Sauce
- Canned Green Beans
ORGANIC GRAINS
I am more picky on buying my grains that are glyphosate free because gluten already causes havoc on the gut and the glyphosate just magnifies it! To help make my flour and sugar last longer, I use the OXO containers. They keep it sealed tight! These are my favorite organic grains.
- Noodles
- Quinoa
- Bread or Sprouted Wheat Bread
- Granola
- Flour
- Annies Mac & Cheese
- Sourdough Bread
ORGANIC MEAT
To be honest, I don’t buy all my meat organic, although I should. I’m taking baby steps in this precess and the first step I took in going organic with meat is ground beef. I notice a hug difference in taste and I can’t go back once I tried it. To make this less expensive I use less meat than a recipe will call for so that it lasts longer! There are other options of organic meat that I’ve tried such as chicken.
- Chicken
- Hamburger
ORGANIC DAIRY
It’s a must for me to buy organic milk, I don’t love all the controversy with the way our milk is processed these days so its not worth it for me to buy regular milk. Also when they process our milk it takes out a lot of the good fat and essential nutrients that makes milk healthy for us. Yes its more expensive but its worth it for me. Since the milk is so expensive I can’t stand wasting any of it. If it’s about to expire we will make a batch of ice cream in our ice cream maker. It’s a great way to use up the milk before it goes bad! Costco also has other dairy options that are organic. Eggs and butter are my other favorites. If your eggs are about to expire and you don’t want to waste them, I put them all in my Instant Pot. We love them and none of them will go to waste. For the butter, I love my butter holder that keeps it fresh longer, but also soft at the same time!
- Milk
- Butter
- Eggs
OTHER ORGANIC PRODUCTS I LOVE
There are many other organic products I love that aren’t listed above..
- Coconut oil
- Maple Syrup
- Sugar
- Better than Bullion
- Salsa
- Tortilla Chips
- Fruit Snacks (won’t have all the color dyes and high fructose corn syrup)
Although there are so many other great organic options at Costco, these are some of my favorite go to organic choices! I hope it helps you save money so we can all eat a little more healthy and feel better!
